Central Luzon Covid-19 recovery tally hits 24.2K

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – At least 217 more patients have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Central Luzon, bringing the region’s overall Covid-19 recoveries to 24,235.

Latest regional case bulletin of the Department of Health- Central Luzon Center for Health Development (DOH-CLCHD) reported that the figures represent 83.5 percent of those who tested positive for the virus that have so far beaten the illness.

The DOH-CLHD also reported there are currently 3,744 active cases or 12.9 percent of the total number of patients.

Of the total, 2,067 are mild, 1,559 are asymptomatic, 62 are severe, 39 are moderate, and 17 are in critical condition.

On the other hand, the DOH-CLHD said the total number of those who succumbed to Covid-19 in the region is 1,052, which is 3.6 percent of the total caseload.

As of Feb. 18, there are 71 new cases reported in the region.

Bulacan has the highest number of new cases with 32; followed by Pampanga with 13; Nueva Ecija with 10; Bataan with seven; Tarlac and Angeles City with four each; and Olongapo City with one.

Meanwhile, the provinces of Aurora and Zambales have zero new Covid-19 cases.

The DOH-CLHD said 97 out of the 154-bed capacity of intensive care unit (ICU) dedicated to patients with Covid-19 in the region are available.

Also available for Covid-19 patients’ use are 1,124 out of 1,466 isolation beds, 403 out of 462 ward beds, and 112 out of 141 ventilators.

The DOH-CLHD reminded the public not to be complacent while there is no available vaccine yet, and strictly observe the minimum health standards.

DOH-Region 3 director Cesar Cassion earlier said that wearing face masks, frequent washing of hands, observing physical distancing, staying at home, and foregoing non-essential travels are still important to keep everyone safe and protected from Covid-19. (PNA)
