DUMAGUETE CITY – Former Commissioner Gregorio "Goyo" Larrazabal of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to visit Negros Oriental on Feb. 27 as part of the poll body’s voters’ registration campaign for the May 2022 presidential and national elections.

Lawyer Jerome Brillantes, Comelec point person here for the visit of Larrazabal, in an interview Friday afternoon said the former official will meet with the election officers, members of the media, and representatives from the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, National Movement for Free Elections, and the Diocesan Electoral Board, among others.

He said Larrazabal will be visiting in a private capacity as part of his continuing advocacy to help the Comelec.

Provincial election supervisor, Lawyer Eddie Aba will lead the receiving party for Larrazabal’s visit.

Brillantes said no other details were made available yet for the former Comelec official’s visit here, but certainly it has something to do with the voter’s registration and education campaign for next year’s polls.

Larrazabal will proceed to Cebu the following day from Negros Oriental. (PNA)
