MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced on Thursday that the 400,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines donated by China have been released.
In a statement, the bureau said the Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), has facilitated the immediate clearance and release of the vaccines that arrived in the country on Wednesday.
Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero assured the public that they will continue to expedite the processing, clearance, and release of Covid-19 vaccines and related shipments amid the rapid surge of infections in the country.
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, Huang Xilian, Testing Czar Vince Dizon, and Senate Committee on Health Chairperson, Senator Bong Go, witnessed the arrival of the vaccines
District Collector Carmelita Talusan said the port will further strengthen collaborations with other agencies – DOH and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ensure that only safe and registered Covid-19 related goods will be cleared and processed to protect the public.
On February 28, President Rodrigo Duterte and other government officials witnessed the arrival of the first batch of Sinovac jabs consisting of 600,000 doses donated by Beijing. (PNA)
