BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Sunday evening issued an order reinstating stricter policies on travel and activities and the extension of the liquor ban until April 10 to curb the surge in coronavirus cases.
Among the policies reinstated include the curfew from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the next day, stay-at-home restrictions for those below 15 years old and over 65 years old.
The number of persons allowed in physical fitness activities, sports, recreation centers, restaurants with dine-in services, salons, spas, gym, and accommodation establishments is limited to 50 percent capacity, and 30 percent for worship and religious services.
The operation of driving schools, traditional cinemas, museums, and cultural centers, libraries and archives, game arcades, and indoor tourist attractions are also prohibited.
Only authorized persons outside residence from the National Capital Region (NCR) and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal -- collectively known as NCR Plus -- are allowed to enter the city.
As of April 4, the city has recorded 951 active Covid-19 cases. The Covid wards of four major hospitals in the city have reached full capacity.
"We have had consultations with our contact tracing analysts, local health authorities, and experts in the field of epidemiology and disease surveillance and they have recommended an extended period of our temporary additional restrictions in light of the current Covid-19 situation in the city," the order read.
The city recorded more than 100 Covid-19 cases each day on the first four days of April.
On April 2, the city logged the highest single-day record of 221 infections, the same day Magalong tested positive for Covid-19. (PNA)
