PNP's IT office chief named new comptroller

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday announced a major revamp due to the retirement of senior officials this month.

PNP Directorate for Information and Communications Technology (DICTM) chief, Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. was named as the new Director for Comptrollership of the police force, replacing Maj. Gen. Emmanuel Luis Licup who will retire from the service on April 9.

Licup has been reassigned to the Office of the Chief PNP. He served as the regional director of the Police Regional Office-4B (Mimaropa) and the PRO-9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) before he was designated as Director for Operations and later Director for Comptrollership.

Brig. Gen. Alexander Sampaga will replace Azurin as DICTM director.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee, chief of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) was named as director of the PRO-Cordillera, while Brig. Gen. Remus Medina will take over as PDEG chief.

Lee replaced Brig. Gen. R’win Pagkalinawan, who was assigned to the Police Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) under the Directorate for Police Records and Management (DPRM).

Also included in the reshuffle were Brig. Gen. Julius Lagiwid who was assigned to the PHAU from the Directorate for Police Community Relations; Brig. Gen. Randolf Balonglong, from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 1 to the Office of the Chief PNP (OCPNP); Brig. Gen. Erson Digal, from Directorate for Logistics to PHAU; Brig. Gen. Conrado Gongon Jr., from the Communications and Electronics Service (CES) to PHAU; Brig. Gen. Samuel Rodriguez, from Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR) to PHAU; Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, from OCPNP to PRO-BAR; and Brig. Gen. Patrick Villacorte, from PRO- 6 (Western Visayas) to CES.

Other officials included in the reshuffle are as follows:

Col. Salvador Alacyang, from Anti-Kidnapping Group to PRO-8 (Eastern Visayas); Col. Fernando Ortega, from the National Capital Region Police Office to the Office of Chief PNP; Col. Edwin Wagan, from PRO-8 to Directorate for Logistics; Col. Rudolph Dimas, from PRO-4A (Calabarzon) to PRO-6; Col. Emmanuel Hebron, from NCRPO to PRO-4A; Col. Enrique Magalona, from Directorate for Integrated Police Operations-Western Mindanao to PRO-1; Col. Marlou Martinez, from Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) to Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG); Col. Rafael Montilla, from IMEG to Civil Security Group; and, Col. Randey Peralta, from CSG to OCPNP

The reshuffle, which is effective starting April 5, was approved by PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas.

Meanwhile, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ildebrandi Usana and PNP deputy chief for operations Lt. Gen. Cesar Hawthorne Binag, will also retire on April 20 and April 24, respectively.

Sinas, meanwhile, will retire from the service on May 8 while PNP deputy chief for administration, Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar will retire on November 13.

Sinas, Eleazar, Binag, and Licup belong to the Philippine Military Academy Hinirang Class of 1987. (PNA)
