PH Covid-19 recovery tally nears 647K with 598 new survivors

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported 598 new recovered cases, pushing the total number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recoveries nationwide to 646,968.

According to the DOH, the figure is equivalent to a 78.1-percent recovery rate among those who contracted the infectious disease.

The DOH also tallied 9,216 new confirmed Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 167,279 and the country's overall infections to 828,366.

Of the active cases, about 97.6 percent are mild, 1.2 percent are asymptomatic, 0.5 percent are severe, 0.29 are moderate, and 0.5 percent are in critical condition.

The DOH also logged 60 more deaths on Thursday, pushing the death toll to 14,119.

"There were 14 duplicates removed from the total case count, and of these, six are recoveries. Moreover, 28 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," it said.

Five laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System on April 7.

The department also reported that 63 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds, 50 percent of 13,500 isolation beds, 51 percent of 6,000 ward beds, and 45 percent of 2,000 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are used nationwide to date.

Meanwhile, 81 percent of 800 intensive care unit beds, 73 percent of 3,800 isolation beds, 60 percent of 2,200 ward beds, and 60 percent of 800 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are used in the National Capital Region.

The public is reminded to stay at home and to observe minimum health standards when going out.

The DOH urged those experiencing Covid-19 symptoms to immediately isolate and contact the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams. (PNA)
