MANILA – Lapu-Lapu pulled away late in the third quarter to take down Tabogon, 75-61, in the second day of the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup Viasyas Leg at the Alcantara Civic Center on Saturday night.

After the Voyagers threatened to mount a comeback early in the said period, the Heroes uncorked an 11-0 run to set up the blowout.

Dawn Ochea and Reed Juntilla each scored 12 points for Lapu-Lapu, which joined opening night winners Talisay and Mandaue at the top of the team standings.

Despite the rout, Coach Francis Auquico believes he has not yet seen the best from the team.

Di pa kami consistent especially sa second unit namin. Medyo doon kami nao-off pero (We're not yet consistent especially in our second unit. We're off with it, but) we still have a couple of days of practice to work on that before our second game against the Dumaguete Warriors,” Auquico said.

Jethro Sombero and Peter De Ocampo each tallied nine markers for Tabogon as none of its players breached double digits.

Meanwhile, Siquijor quickly recovered from a bad beat the previous night and chilled down Dumaguete, 105-100, in another game.

After being held to only 46 points by Mandaue on Friday night, Siquijor went toe-to-toe with Dumaguete offensively before tearing them down in the final quarter.

The Warriors opened the match strong as they looked poised to deliver the Mystics to their second straight loss with a 38-23 first quarter.

Siquijor, however, answered with a 37-point second quarter as Dumaguete's lead was cut down to just 10, 70-60, at halftime.

The scoring slowed down a bit in the third quarter with both teams only making 22 points each, but in the fourth, the Mystics held the Warriors to just eight points to complete the comeback win.

After a scoreless outing against Mandaue, Ryan Buenafe led Siquijor with 24 points on 4-of-7 shooting from long range, six rebounds, six assists, and one steal.

Josh Alcober added a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds with five assists and three steals.

Migs Castellano, the lone bright spot for the team on Friday night, continued his consistent game with his own double-double of 13 markers and 12 boards on top of two blocks and one steal off the bench.

Gene Belleza posted the league's first perfect game after going 5-for-5 from the field for 11 points with two rebounds and one steal.

Ronald Roy and James Regalado each tallied 18 points for Dumaguete, which actually blew a 19-point lead. (PNA)
