DAVAO CITY -- At least 93,468 out of the targeted 120,000 senior citizens have been registered to receive the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccine shots.

In a statement Tuesday, Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, head of the Vaccination Cluster of Davao City, said she expects the number to increase as the registration is ongoing.

“The master listing is being done by two offices, which is the City Health Office (CHO), through the District Health Offices and the Office of the Senior Citizen (OSCA) under the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO),” Villafuerte said.

For 60-65 years old, the vaccination venue will be done per district health offices.

Villafuerte said the vaccination for seniors would start as soon as the vaccination of medical front-line workers is over.

“For senior citizens who are over 70 years old, the vaccine cluster is still finalizing a strategy for vaccination. We are set to meet with the different hospitals in Davao City on the other vaccination hubs for the senior citizens who are 75 above, considering their comorbidities,” she said.

Villafuerte said the registration set-up is expected to be more convenient anytime soon as the city will pilot the integration of the vaccination registration to the Safe Davao QR (quick response) codes.

Currently, two registration methods for vaccination are being done by CHO: manual listing or where the residents go directly to their district health offices, and through the Covid-19 vaccination hotlines (0961 073 4965 for Smart users and 0927 022 9087 for Globe users). (PNA)
