BUTUAN CITY – Authorities arrested two high-value individuals (HVIs) and seized PHP60,960 worth of shabu in separate operations in Agusan del Norte on Tuesday.

Cabadbaran City Police Station (CCPS) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel arrested Joel Rey O. Villareal, 22, and seized five grams of shabu worth PHP35,000.

“A concerned citizen appeared to this station on Monday evening and reported that the suspect sold to him a sachet of shabu,” Lt. Col. Renel M. Serrano, CCPS chief, told the Philippine News Agency in a phone interview.

In another law enforcement operation, Agusan del Norte Provincial Intelligence Unit (ADNPIU) and Tubay Municipal Police Station (TMPS) operatives arrested Rey Carlo Abando, 23, who yielded three sachets of shabu valued at PHP25,960.

In a statement, Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr., director of the Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO-13), said the two arrested HVIs are listed in the regional priority target for illegal drugs.

“In response to the order of the PNP Chief Gen. Debold M. Sinas, we will hunt the drug personalities in the region until the last one falls to the long arms of the law,” he said.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
