PNP coronavirus recovery tally now 16.7K

MANILA – The Philippine National Police's (PNP) recovery from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has reached 16,787 after 186 police officers were able to beat the disease.

Citing data as of Tuesday night, PNP Deputy Chief for Administration, Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, also reported that 154 police officers have contracted the disease, 149 of whom are classified as new infections and five as reinfections.

This brings the police force's total number of active cases to 2,117.

The PNP has so far recorded a total of 18,955 Covid-19 cases, with 51 deaths, since March last year.

Meanwhile, the number of police personnel vaccinated against Covid-19 has reached 9,368.

Eleazar said 7,410 police officers have been vaccinated with Sinovac and 1,953 with AstraZeneca.

Of the 7,410 police officers injected with Sinovac, about 1,850 have received their second dose.

He added that three police attachés got Moderna vaccines while two police attachés received Pfizer jabs abroad. (PNA)
