PTFoMS to hold webinar for Bicol newsmen, info officers

LEGAZPI CITY – At least 100 media practitioners and information officers in Bicol Region are expected to attend the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) webinar on "Safeguarding press freedom on media coverage during the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic and the 2022 elections".

Marlon Loterte, Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Bicol regional director, in a phone interview on Tuesday said the webinar will be held via Zoom platform on Thursday (April 29).

"The webinar is part of the series of regional seminars conducted monthly with PIA and Freedom of Information (FOI) Project Management Office of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO)," he said.

The expected speakers during the webinar are Dr. Freddie Gomez of CNN's Medtalk/Healthtalk and veteran journalist Melo Acuna.

"PCOO Secretary Jose Ruperto Martin Andanar and Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra will also give their welcome messages during the event," Loterte said.

Messages are also expected to be given by Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, PIA Director General Ramon Cualoping III, PCOO Undersecretary Michel Kristian Ablan and PTFoMS Executive Director Undersecretary Joel Sy Egco.

The webinar will be broadcast live via the official Facebook pages of PTFoMS, FOI and PCOO. (PNA)
