MANILA – Two Quezon City residents who went to the community pantry of actress Angel Locsin have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) after undergoing reverse transcription - polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests.

The City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU) reported on Friday that the two availed of the free swab tests on Wednesday.

The infected, both female residents of Barangay Holy Spirit where the pantry was held, are aged 42 and 43.

They will be transferred to an isolation facility.

CESU chief, Dr. Rolando Cruz, added that the 11-year-old daughter of one of the attendees also tested positive but was not at the April 23 event, which was marred by the death of a 67-year-old male vendor who queued for hours.

So far, 64 persons who went to Locsin’s event have been tested. The other results are still pending.

"We will conduct immediate contact tracing on the other members of their families to check if they are also infected," Cruz said in a news release.

The city government again called on those who attended the community pantry to have themselves tested.

"We are urging those who went to last week's gathering, please contact us and have yourself tested. This way, we can be assured that your families and our communities are safe," he said.

An appointment for a free swab test may be booked online at http://bit.ly/QCfreetest or through the CESU Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/QCEpidemiologyDiseaseSurveillance/.
