MANILA – The National Youth Commission (NYC) has achieved another milestone in its effort to reach out to the youth and to provide them with an alternative platform to communicate their aspirations and ideas as well as their activities and advocacies after it launched a mobile radio station, 87.9 NYCFM Voice and Advocate of the Youth, on Wednesday.

Mounted at the Cyberspace League Broadcast Training Van, the radio station will serve as a laboratory of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) trainees who participated in the broadcast journalism training conducted recently by the NYC.

"Not only that, we want the young people to have a space to ventilate their concerns and to disseminate updated information on the current advocacy campaigns of the NYC for the youth,” NYC Chairperson Ryan Enriquez said in a news release on Wednesday.

The simple inaugural ceremonies also highlight the manifesto signing for the Kilusang Kabataan Kontra Katiwalian, the latest advocacy spearheaded by the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission headed by Chairman Greco Belgica.

"This endeavor is very timely because there is a need to train the youth, especially the SK to do things in the most legally acceptable manner and to avoid the temptations of corruption and as watchdogs to curb corruption,” Enriquez said.

After the inaugural ceremony, the van kicked off to its maiden destination in Pasig City in cooperation with the SK Federation and Mayor Vico Sotto. (PR)
