MANILA – A non-partisan group is partnering with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the conduct of an online and offline information campaign that aims to encourage Filipinos to register and participate in the May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections (NLE).

Vote Pilipinas will be launching the Voter Registration Month via Zoom on May 9 at 9 a.m.

“Through this program, Vote Pilipinas with the help of Comelec and various partner sectors will showcase a Mobilization Program, an efficient and effective way to help ensure that your community will be 100 percent registered to vote,” it said in a statement.

The group added that it aims to get 7 million individuals to register as new voters through its campaign which utilizes technology in providing people accessible, simplified, and unbiased information, and data on voter registration.

Interviews with Comelec officials, corporate partners, the academe, and community representatives will be conducted during the launch.

“The event aims to redefine what it means to be a responsible voter by motivating them to encourage their communities (families, friends, & colleagues) to register to vote,” Vote Pilipinas said.

At the same time, the group invited the public to join the online launch.

“We believe that every Filipino should be afforded the right to suffrage. You have a right to register, to access understandable information about their candidates, and most especially, You have the right to vote. 2022 is happening. 2022 is near,” the Vote Pilipinas added.
