MANILA – With still six days left before deadline, 18 local government units in the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus have already completed their distribution of “ayuda” (assistance) to beneficiaries of enhanced community quarantine cash aid.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año said 18 LGUs are done distributing PHP1.93 billion, ranging from PHP1,000 per person to a maximum PHP4,000 per family, before the May 15, 2021 deadline.

“Eighteen LGUs have already crossed the finish line. Puspusan pa rin ang pamamahagi ng iba pang LGUs sa NCR Plus at karamihan naman sa kanila ay patapos na rin sa kanilang pamimigay (The other LGUs in the NCR Plus have ongoing distribution and are nearly finish, too),” Año said in a news release.

“We commend the 18 LGUs for a job well done! Mabuhay po kayo (Long live!),” he added.

Of the 18 LGU finishers as of Saturday, 13 are in Laguna – Biñan, Cabuyao, San Pedro, and Santa Rosa cities; and the municipalities of Alaminos, Calauan, Famy, Magdalena, Nagcarlan, Paete, Pila, Rizal, and Santa Cruz.

Other LGUs which have registered 100 percent distribution rate are Guiguinto and Pandi in Bulacan; and Tagaytay City, Amadeo, and Naic in Cavite.

LGUs in Rizal are at 95.94 percent completion.

“We commend these LGUs who have now finished their financial aid dissemination for their commitment and partnership with the national government in this very tedious task,” Año said.

81% in NCR Plus

Año said more than PHP18.6 billion have been distributed to qualified recipients in all LGUs within NCR Plus, corresponding to 80.95 percent.

Laguna tallied the highest percentage at 93.84 percent followed by NCR, 81.92 percent; Bulacan, 80.52 percent; Rizal, 74.41 percent; and Cavite, 72.99 percent.

In the NCR, the distribution rate has hit an average of more than 90 percent as of May 8, headed by the Municipality of Pateros, 97.28; Caloocan, 97.18; Quezon City, 95.97; Manila, 95 percent; Pasay, 93.47; Mandaluyong, 93.02; San Juan, 92.66; and, Navotas, 90.68.

"Some of the reasons that LGUs have not yet completed their distribution are the huge number of beneficiaries, big number of appeals that are undergoing deliberation, tedious and lengthy process of partnering with banks and remittance centers for payout for those doing electronic distribution, and difficulty of mobilizing personnel in this time of pandemic," Año said.

"Despite these challenges, we are confident they will meet the deadline," he said. (PR)
