DOLE to stop accepting cash aid applications from tourism workers

MANILA – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said the submission of applications for the Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) from workers in the tourism sector will end on Monday afternoon.

“Effective 5 p.m. May 10, 2021, the Department of Labor and Employment in coordination with the Department of Tourism shall cease to accept online applications for the financial assistance under the Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program for the Tourism Sector,” Secretary Silvestre Bello III said in Labor Advisory No. 10.

He added that the agency has reached the target number of beneficiaries and is now evaluating and processing payment of the pending applications.

Data from the agency showed that a total of PHP2.6 billion have been disbursed benefiting 520,000 workers in the tourism sector. They came from 17,697 establishments, organizations and associations nationwide.

There are still 215,000 applications under consideration or for processing with an amount of PHP500 million.

The program has an allocation of PHP3.1 billion under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2).

The beneficiaries who were affected by the pandemic have received a one-time cash aid of PHP5,000. (PNA)
