PH 2nd in SE Asia in most number of Covid jabs administered

MANILA – The vaccination rollout gains full steam as the Philippines is now second among Southeast Asian nations with the most number of coronavirus vaccines administered.

In a report by National Task Force Against Covid-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr., data show that as of May 10, the country has administered a total of 2,409,235 vaccine shots, more than two months after it started its vaccination campaign.

The seven-day average of doses administered is 65,879.

It is next to Indonesia with 21,993,299 doses administered since its rollout began on Jan. 13; Cambodia at third with 2,284,788 since Feb. 28.

Worldwide, the Philippines ranked 41st out of 194 and 15th out of 47 countries in Asia.

Since the Philippines started the vaccination rollout on March 1, a total of 2,409,235 persons from A1-A4 priority groups have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

A total of 1,957,965 persons have been vaccinated with the first dose and 451,270 with the second dose.

Of the total 7,571,000 doses (as of May 10), 4,009,880 vaccines have been deployed in 3,410 vaccination sites nationwide.

With the latest arrival of the Pfizer shipment Monday night, the Philippines now has a total of 7,764,050 vaccines that also include CoronaVac, AstraZeneca, and Sputnik V.

Recoveries

Based on data gathered by worldometers.info, as of May 10, the Philippines recorded the highest number of new recoveries with 8,193, followed by Indonesia with 6,338 and Malaysia with 3,454.

For total recoveries, Indonesia remains at the top with 1,574,615, followed by the Philippines with 1,030,367, and Malaysia with 405,388.

Meanwhile, Malaysia currently has the highest total cases per one million population with 13,584 (population of 32,720,210), followed by Singapore with 10,421 (5,889,708), and the Philippines with 10,005 (110,828,667). (With a report from Raymond Carl dela Cruz/PNA)
