Covid-19 recoveries in Caraga reach 9.7K

BUTUAN CITY – Caraga Region registered 63 recoveries from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as of Sunday, bringing the area's total recoveries to 9,751 since the pandemic began early last year.

In an update Monday, the Department of Health in Caraga (DOH-13) said the region also listed 140 new cases, bringing the total cases to 11,666.

“A total of 1,535 active cases in Caraga Region are still in isolation in the different facilities,” the DOH-13 said.

At least 380 Covid-19 related deaths have been recorded in the region, with two new deaths logged on Sunday.

Butuan City now has 3,756 Covid-19 total cases, with 22 new cases recorded on Sunday.

Among the provinces, Surigao del Sur logged the highest number of cases on Sunday with 51, including the 31 new cases in Bislig City and eight in Tandag City.

However, DOH-13 noted the high percentage of available beds in Covid-19 facilities in the region: 73 percent availability for ward beds, 53 percent for isolation beds, and 43 percent for ICU beds.

The agency said 64.9 percent of Covid-19 cases in Caraga are classified as asymptomatic, 31.5 percent with mild symptoms, 3.2 percent with severe symptoms, and 0.5 percent critical.

As of May 15, a total of 85,032 individuals in the region have been inoculated with Covid-19 vaccines. (PNA)
