P55-K pirated DVDs, CDs seized in Surigao Norte town

BUTUAN CITY – Authorities seized some PHP55,000 worth of pirated DVDs, CDs, and pornographic films in an entrapment in Placer, Surigao del Norte, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Surigao del Norte (CIDG-SDN) said on Tuesday.

In a statement, CIDG-SDN said Monday's operation in Barangay Magsaysay, Placer, led to the arrest of Diosdado Corsado, Maic Amikir, and Ranel Pabalate, all residents in the area.

“The entrapment operation was conducted with the support of Placer Municipal Police Station and the Police Intelligence Unit (PIU) of Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (SDNPPO) in relation to the CIDG Flagship Project Oplan Megashopper,” the CIDG-SDN said.

Seized from the suspects were 1,100 pieces of assorted pirated DVDs and CDs, five pornographic CDs, four DVDs and CDs, and two PHP100 bills used during the buy-bust.

CIDG-SDN vowed to intensify operations against pirated DVDs and CDs in the area in line with the agency’s Oplan Megashopper.

The unit also acknowledged the support of communities that continue to provide vital information, particularly on the sources, sale, and distribution of contrabands in the province.

The suspects are now detained at the CIDG-SDN for the filing of appropriate criminal charges. (PNA)
