MANILA – The city government of Manila recorded a record high of 15,763 administered Covid-19 vaccines on Monday.
The recipients, both for first and second doses, availed of jabs from 19 vaccination sites while others were through home service for bedridden residents, according to the Facebook post of Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.
The city government inoculates the A1 (medical front-liners), A2 (senior citizens), and A3 (with comorbidities) priority groups through the Manila Health Department (MHD).
The breakdown of the vaccine deployment as of Monday are as follows:
• 1,278 AstraZeneca second dose (A1, A2, and A3)
• 36 Pfizer first dose (A1)
• 14,364 Sinovac first dose (A1, A2, and A3)
• 85 Sinovac second dose (A1, A2, and A3)
“Hinihikayat ko rin po ang lahat ng mga interesado magpabakuna na mag pre-register sa www.manilacovid19vaccine.ph para sa mas mabilis at episyenteng vaccination process (I encourage all those who are interested to receive the vaccine to pre-register at www.manilacovid19vaccine.ph for a faster and more efficient vaccination process),” Domagoso said in his post.
Vaccination in Manila is done seven days a week, even on holidays.
Vaccination hours have also been extended from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., from the previous 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Naawa na ako sa mga doctor ko at nurses and vaccinator and encoder. Kung mapapansin nyo, extended kami, nag-adjust kami additional two hours sa umaga, then three hours sa hapon for the past one week, straight. Kagabi 9 p.m. na may bakunahan pa kasi hanggang meron clients and vaccine, we don’t go home, then gising sila 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. para 6 a.m. bakuna ulit. ‘Yan po ang sakripisyo ng MHD for us (I pity our doctors, nurses, vaccinators, and encoders. If you will notice we are on extended hours. We adjusted two hours in the morning and three hours in the afternoon for the past week, straight. Last night at 9 p.m., they were still vaccinating. Until we have clients and we have vaccines, we don’t go home. Then they wake up at 4 a.m. or 5 a.m .so they can start the vaccination at 6 a.m. That is the sacrifice of the MHD for us),” Domagoso said.
The city averages 900 to 1,000 persons per day.
If the trend continues, Domagoso expects 540,000 will get the Covid-19 jabs in a month. (PNA)
