SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – Health workers and senior citizens in this capital town of Antique province received their second dose of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines starting Wednesday.

“We are targeting 1,500 individuals for the second dose vaccination,” San Jose de Buenavista Municipal Health Officer Dr. Melba Billones said in an interview.

She said there are already more than 100 health workers and senior citizens given the second dose at the Robinsons Place Antique.

They target additional 300 recipients on Thursday for the vaccination that will run until May 21 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Robinsons Place.

San Jose de Buenavista was the first municipality in the province to roll out the Covid-19 jabs.

“We are glad that the Department of Health (DOH) through the Antique Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) has given us 1,500 vials of Sinovac vaccines for the second dose,” she said.

In addition to administering the second dose, they also inoculated 200 health workers and senior citizens using the AstraZeneca vaccines.

“We are very happy that there were 200 people who came for their first dose of AstraZeneca,” she said, adding that at first they only targeted 56 recipients on May 18.

She said that those who will be administered with the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine will have their second dose this coming July. (PNA)
