DOH logs 2.5K new Covid-19 recoveries, 6.2K new cases

MANILA – A total of 2,586 individuals have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday. 

In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, these new recoveries brought the country’s total to 1,096,109 recoveries or 93.6 percent of 1,171,403 infections since the start of the pandemic last year.

The DOH also reported 6,258 new cases, bringing the country’s active cases to 55,531 or 4.7 percent of all cases.

Of these active cases, 93.5 percent were manifesting mild symptoms, 2 percent were asymptomatic, 1.8 percent had severe symptoms, 1.4 percent were in critical condition, and 1.22 percent had moderate symptoms. 

It also reported 141 new deaths, bringing the country’s total Covid-19 fatalities to 19,763 or 1.69 percent of all infections.

Thirteen percent of the 44,817 Covid-19 tests administered on Wednesday have returned positive for the disease.

Meanwhile, the use of health care facilities at the National Capital Region (NCR) is lower than the national average.

About 56 percent of NCR’s 700 beds in intensive care units (ICU) are currently occupied, along with 41 percent of 3,800 isolation beds, and 41 percent of 2,200 ward beds, while 40 percent of 800 ventilators are in use.

Nationwide, 58 percent of 1,900 ICU beds are occupied, along with 45 percent of 13,600 isolation beds, and 46 percent of 6,000 ward beds, while 40 percent of 2,000 ventilators are in use. (PNA)
