Covid-19 recoveries in C. Luzon reach 95K

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The total number of patients who recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Central Luzon has reached 95,000 since the onset of the pandemic last year.

The Department of Health - Central Luzon Center for Health Development (DOH-CLCHD), in its regional case bulletin released Wednesday night, reported 583 new recoveries, bringing its total to 95,768.

These figures represent 91.8 percent of the total 104,352 confirmed infections in the region.

The DOH-CLHD also reported 6,130 currently active cases or 5.9 percent of the total number of patients.

Of these, 56 are asymptomatic cases, 5,921 are mild, 72 are moderate, 60 are severe and 21 are critical.

The total number of those who died of Covid -19 in the region is 2,454 which is 2.4 percent of the total caseload.

As of May 26, there are 471 new cases reported in the region.

Pampanga has the highest number of new cases with 155; followed by Bulacan with 129; Nueva Ecija with 71; Tarlac, 69; Bataan, 13; Angeles City, 12; Olongapo City, 12; Aurora, 6; and Zambales, 4.

DOH Regional Director Corazon Flores said the number of Covid-19 cases in the region is now on a downward trend.

She said from the high-risk category, the region is now on the low-risk category in the number of Covid-19 cases.

Flores, however, reminded the public not to be complacent and to follow the minimum health standards amid the vaccination rollout.

As of May 22, the total doses of vaccine administered in the region is 393,235.

Of this figure, a total of 321,364 medical and non-medical front-liners and senior citizens have so far been vaccinated with the first dose while 71,871 already completed the two doses. (PNA)
