Antipolo solon succumbs to Covid-19

MANILA – Antipolo City Rep. Resurreccion Acop has died of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). She was 73.

This was confirmed by her husband, former congressman Romeo Acop.

The House of Representatives mourned the loss of Acop, whom it described as a kind, passionate, and committed public servant.

"The House of Representatives, led by Speaker Lord Allan Velasco, mourns the demise of its dear Member, Representative Resurreccion M. Acop," the House said in a statement. "She will be remembered for her kindness, passion, and commitment to selflessly serve the people of the 2nd district of Antipolo City."

The House also extended its deep sympathies to her family and loved ones.

Majority Leader Martin Romualdez also expressed sadness over the passing of the lawmaker.

"We are deeply saddened by the news that our good friend and a hardworking colleague, Representative Resurreccion Acop, has left us to join her Creator. My sympathies go out to the love of her life--her family, especially her husband, former Rep. Romeo Acop, friends and constituents in the 2nd District of Antipolo," Romualdez said. "You will be terribly missed in the halls of Congress. Thank you for your service ma'am."

Acop is the vice-chairperson of the House Committee on Health. (PNA)
