MANILA – A total of 7,533 more survived coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Department of Health (DOH) reported Saturday, jacking up the country's recovery tally to 1,142,246 that account for 93.9 percent of the overall cases.

The DOH also logged 7,443 new infections and 156 fatalities, pushing the active cases and death toll to 53,614 and 20,722, respectively.

At least 1,216,582 individuals have been afflicted by Covid-19 in the country since the first patient was recorded at the start of the pandemic last year.

Out of the 46,442 tests conducted from May 27, at least 12.5 percent turned out positive based on DOH's May 29 data.

The agency said around 93.1 percent of the active cases have mild symptoms, 2.3 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent critical, 1.8 percent are severe, and 1.28 percent are moderate.

Nationwide, 59 percent of the 1,900 intensive care unit (ICU) beds are in use, including 46 percent of the 13,600 isolation beds and 47 percent of the 6,000 ward beds.

In Metro Manila, occupied is 58 percent of 700 ICU beds, 40 percent of 3,800 isolation beds, and 37 percent of 2,200 ward beds dedicated for Covid-19 patients.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, in a Laging Handa briefing on Saturday, noted that the Covid-19 bed capacity in several regions is at "high risk" status (70 percent to 85 percent).

"Bagama’t bumaba ang kaso dito sa NCR Plus Bubble, makikita naman natin ang pagtaas ng mga kaso dito sa ilang bahagi ng ating bansa pati na rin ang paggamit ng kanilang mga ICU beds (While cases are dropping in the NCR Plus Bubble, we're observing an increase in other parts of the country including the use of ICU beds)," she said.

Bed utilization is at 71 percent in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Caraga, and Regions II, III, and IV-A. At least 79 percent of ICU beds, meanwhile, are filled in the Zamboanga Peninsula. (PNA
