MANILA – Local tourists should update themselves about the latest regulations in areas they are planning to visit as the government eases domestic travel restrictions, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said Wednesday.

Eleazar said local government units impose their own guidelines in accepting visitors or tourists.

“Payo ko po sa ating mga kababayan, alamin po natin muna ang mga panuntunan na ipinatutupad ng mga lokalidad na inyong balak puntahan dahil may mga pagkakataon na naghihigpit pa rin po sila sa mga turista at may mga karagdagang sariling regulations (My advice is that they should know the rules and regulations of the places or localities they are planning to visit as they might have additional or stricter protocols to comply with)," Eleazar said.

Even as movement restrictions ease, Eleazar reminded the public to continue observing the minimum public health safety standards.

He added that the public should not grow complacent, saying police personnel would continue to enforce rules, including adjustments that have been made in view of eased restrictions as well as local ordinances.

Domestic travel is now allowed from the so-called NCR Plus to areas under modified general community quarantine, provided that travelers test negative for Covid-19 in an RT-PCR test. (PNA)
