7 nabbed, P117-K 'shabu' seized in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Authorities arrested seven suspects and seized a total of PHP117,508 worth of narcotics in separate operations in the region on Wednesday, a top police official announced Thursday.

Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director, identified the suspects as Angie Sulaiman, 61; Dem-Rashier Rasul, 32; Florence Bennimar Mallorca, 32; Ronald Cruz, 22; Abdulrashid Indalmani, 20; Hussin Ismael, 31 and Jemar Solo, 33.

Ylagan said Sulaiman and Rasul yielded PHP39,440 worth of shabu, illegal drug paraphernalia, and PHP200 marked money when they were arrested in a buy-bust in Barangay Baliwasan at around 5:10 p.m.

A separate operation in the same village at around 9 p.m. led to the arrest of Indalmani and Ismael, who yielded PHP10,000 worth of suspected shabu, a coin purse, and PHP300 marked money.

Meanwhile, Mallorca was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. in Purok 3, Barangay Lunzuran. Seized from her were some PHP34,000 worth of shabu, a coin purse, and PHP200 marked money.

In Zamboanga Sibugay, Cruz yielded PHP30,600 worth of suspected shabu, five pieces of aluminum foil, and PHP500 marked money and was arrested at around 5:30 p.m. in Purok Banaba, Barangay Veterans in Ipil town.

Ylagan, meanwhile, said Solo was cornered in an anti-drug operation around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in Purok Pagaypay B, Barangay Kawit, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Seized from him were around PHP3,468 worth of suspected shabu, PHP1,000 marked money, a .45 caliber pistol with ammunition, and a cellular phone.

The suspects are now detained and will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
