BAGUIO CITY – Authorities have arrested a Yemeni national here for growing marijuana plants in his house.

Capt. Marnie Abellanida, Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) information officer, said Monday the suspect Hussein Muaad Hassan, alias 'Muath Yaf', was arrested during a search warrant operation in his residence in Bakakeng Central by the local police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on June 5.

The search yielded three pots planted with fully grown marijuana plants.

"The plants that weigh about six grams are ready to be harvested," Abellanida said in a statement.

The operation stemmed from information by a tipster about the rowdy behavior of the foreigner and his peers in the neighborhood.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
