Caraga logs 220 new Covid-19 recoveries

BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Health in Caraga Region (DOH-13) on Monday said 220 more patients in the region recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

This brought Caraga's total recovery tally to 12,322, out of a total of 16,008 infections since the pandemic started in March last year.

The agency also recorded 230 new cases, bringing the region's active case tally to 3,205.

Another six fatalities, meanwhile, raised the death toll to 481.

“The 12,322 recoveries represent 77 percent of the total cases recorded, the remaining active cases is 20 percent while the recorded deaths are three percent from the total infections logged in Caraga,” the DOH-13 said in its situation report.

The agency added that 96.6 percent of the cases in the area are classified as asymptomatic and with mild symptoms, 3 percent are with severe symptoms, and 0.4 percent are critical.

Agusan del Sur topped the number of active cases with 519, followed by Surigao del Sur with 402, Agusan del Norte with 321, Dinagat Islands with 283, and Surigao del Norte with 197.

Among the cities, Butuan has the highest number of active cases with 804, followed by Surigao with 281, Bislig with 200, Bayugan with 102, Cabadbaran with 51, and Tandag with 45.

A total of 106,476 individuals have so far been vaccinated in the region as of Sunday, the DOH-13 said. (PNA)
