Zambo cops nab 12; seize P7-M shabu

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Twelve people were arrested while some PHP7 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-drug operations in the region, police officials announced Tuesday.

The suspects were identified as Nasher Abdulkadil, 65; Alhisar Nawadil, 29; Wilmer Cagas, 34; Annaliza Cuevas, 49; Edgardo Maravilla, 38; Daniel Macapla, 50; Loy Bakil, 26; Jumar Dorimon, 33; Michael Bulay-og, 31; Ryan Lester Albaño, 32; Paulino Quintanar Jr. 36; and, Roland Gonzales, 36.

Meanwhile, the police officer who eluded arrest was identified as Pat. Jidkhan Raji of the 2nd Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Col. Rexmel Reyes, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, said Raji managed to escape when he sensed they were transacting with undercover policemen while his two cohorts, Abdulkadil, an ambulant vendor, and Nawadil, a security guard, were arrested in an operation in Zone 5, Barangay Cawit at around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Recovered from the operation were some 100 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP6.8 million, a 9mm pistol with 14 live ammunition, a plastic bag containing 11 bundles of PHP1,000 bills used as boodle money, a sling bag, PHP1,000 marked money, and a Ford Ranger pickup truck.

He said a manhunt was launched in coordination with other police units and law enforcers in the region to arrest Raji.

Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director, said Cagas and Cuevas were arrested around 9:30 a.m. Monday while trying to bring in illegal drugs to Jomar Daplas, a detainee of cell number three of the ZCPO’s Station 11 along Gov. Lim Avenue, Barangay Zone 1.

Ylagan said the two visitors of Daplas were arrested after a member of the Station Drug Enforcement Team of the ZCPO’s Station 11 received information that visitors of detainees were allegedly bringing in illegal drugs concealed in packed lunch and other personal belongings.

Seized from the two were some PHP34,000 worth of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Ylagan said Maravilla and Macapla, a motor repair shop owner, yielded some PHP17,000 worth of suspected shabu, PHP200 marked money, and a .38 cal. revolver with ammunition when arrested in an anti-drug operation around 8 p.m. Monday in Cabarubias Street, Barangay Divisoria.

Recovered from Bakil were some PHP10,000 worth of shabu and PHP300 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust around 7:30 p.m. Monday in Zone 1 Barangay Cabaluay.

Dorimon was arrested in possession of some PHP1,292 worth of suspected shabu and PHP500 marked money in a buy-bust around 8:55 p.m. Monday in Purok Everlasting, Barangay Makilas, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Meanwhile, Bulay-og yielded PHP52,000 worth of shabu, PHP500 marked money, and other drug paraphernalia in a buy-bust around 3:30 p.m. Monday in Barangay Sta. Isabel, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

In Dipolog City, recovered from Albaño were PHP27,000 worth of suspected shabu and PHP2,000 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 7:50 p.m. Monday in Barangay Miputak.

Ylagan said Quintanar and Gonzales yielded some PHP58,500 worth of suspected shabu, PHP500 marked money, PHP665 cash, and other drug paraphernalia in another operation around 11:30 p.m. Monday in Barangay Galas, Dipolog City.

The suspects will be charged with the violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
