ZAMBOANGA CITY – An intelligence report-driven law enforcement operation led to the arrest of a suspected kidnapper linked with the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) here, a police official announced Thursday.

Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-9 Director, identified the suspect as Jasmin Amil, who is facing four counts of kidnapping and serious illegal detention charges before a court in Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.

Amil was served with a warrant of arrest at around 6 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay Divisoria.

Amil allegedly has ties with Roger Kalas (alias Abu Anhar) and Ibno Tabullo (alias Caro), who are allies of Basilan and Sulu-based ASG bandits.

Ylagan said the three were involved in the following kidnappings in Sirawai: Rex Triplet on Sept. 16, 2020 in Barangay Tapayan; Rufo and Ellen Roday on Aug. 31, 2018 in Barangay Piacan; seven members of Javier family on June 28, 2018 in Barangay San Nicolas; and Jemar Duque, Roger Jung-an, Jojo Mantangan, and Raymond Purisima on March 4, 2018 in Barangay San Nicolas.

Amil is under the temporary custody of the Sirawai police. (PNA)
