3 Bislig City villages under MECQ starting June 14

BUTUAN CITY – The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the Caraga Region has approved the request of the local task force in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur to place three of its barangays under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

This was stipulated in Executive Order No. 27-2021 issued by Mayor Florencio C. Garay on Wednesday.

“The local IATF of Bislig City requested the Regional IATF for the approval of the City Government’s plan to declare MECQ status of certain barangays in Bislig City,” Garay said in the order.

The villages of Mangagoy, Tabo, and Poblacion will be placed under MECQ from June 14 to 21, the order said.

Garay said a total of 240 active Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the three barangays as of Tuesday.

Under MECQ, residents who are 65-years-old and above and 14-years-old below, including the pregnant women will be required to stay at home at all times during the period while the movement of individuals in said barangays shall be limited only to the access of essential goods and work both in the government and private offices.

The wearing of face masks and face shields, especially when going out to public places shall be mandatory.

All modes of public transportation in the three barangays will be suspended during the period while a liquor ban and a 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew will be strictly imposed.

All gatherings, including political activities and religious worships, will also be suspended while tourist destinations, resorts, hotels, and restaurants will be closed during the seven-day MECQ in said barangays.

Establishments allowed to open during the period are hospitals, banks, grocery stores, pharmacies, and other businesses catering to the essential needs of the residents.

The officials of the three barangays were also ordered to establish checkpoints in the entry and exit points in their areas to regulate the entry of vehicles and persons. (PNA)
