COTABATO CITY – Police officers have seized some PHP75,000 worth of shabu in separate operations that resulted in the death of two drug suspects in Kabacan and Matalam towns of North Cotabato, a provincial police official reported Thursday.

Lt. Col. Bernard Tayong, North Cotabato provincial police deputy director for operations, identified those killed as Basir Guialal, 35, of Barangay Ugalingan, Carmen; and Mohamed Usman Dadilan, 23, of Barangay Dagupan, Kabacan town.

“Both victims were separately rushed to the hospital after the shootouts on Wednesday but were declared dead on arrival at the hospitals where they were brought,” Tayong said.

He said police operatives were to implement a search warrant at the house of Dadilan in Purok Krislam, Barangay Dagupan at 4 a.m. when he fired at the lawmen, triggering a shootout.

Seized from the house of the suspect were 25 small packets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP70,000; and a .45-caliber pistol.

Also on Wednesday, a police drug buy-bust turned bloody around 10 a.m. after suspect Guialal pulled out a gun and fired at the police poseur-buyer following their transaction at the highway along Barangay Manubuan of Matalam town.

“The police agent fired back, hitting Guialal in the body,” Tayong said.

Recovered from Guialal were several shabu sachets valued at PHP5,000. Tayong said both suspects were included in their drug personalities watch list. (PNA)
