Caraga logs 80% Covid-19 recovery rate

BUTUAN CITY – Caraga Region's recovery rate from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has climbed to 80 percent from the previous 78 percent, the Department of Health in the area (DOH-13) said.

In its latest bulletin on Thursday, the DOH-13 reported 256 new recoveries, pushing the region's recovery count to 16,247 out of a total of 20,316 infections since the start of the health crisis.

A total of 214 new cases were also logged, raising the active case tally to 3,466 or 17 percent of the total number of infections.

The death toll has climbed to 603, with three new fatalities.

“Of the remaining active cases, 64.6 percent are classified as asymptomatic, 32.2 percent are having mild symptoms, three percent with severe symptoms, and 0.4 percent are in critical condition,” the DOH-13 said.

From June 13 to 19, a total of 8,456 individuals in the region have undergone Covid-19 testing where 19 percent or 1,594 individuals have turned positive, the agency added.

The province of Dinagat Islands topped the number of new cases with 27, followed by Agusan del Norte with 26; Surigao del Sur, 24; Surigao del Norte 20; and Agusan del Sur, 16.

Among the cities in the region, a total of 55 new infections were recorded in Butuan, 15 in Surigao, 13 in Tandag, nine in Cabadbaran, eight in Bislig, and one in Bayugan.

Butuan City and the provinces of Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Sur, and Agusan del Sur are under the modified enhanced community quarantine until June 30. (PNA)
