COTABATO CITY – Anti-narcotics agents, backed by the Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade personnel, seized one kilo of suspected shabu but failed to arrest the drug suspect in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur on Thursday morning.

Juvenal Azurin, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao identified the suspect who eluded arrest as Kasim Dimaporo, 32, of Barangay Basak Malulot, Marawi City.

Azurin said the anti-drug operation was launched along Amai Pakpak Avenue in Marawi City around 11:45 a.m.

He said the suspect had agreed to a drug transaction with a poseur buyer at Barangay Green, Amai Pakpak Avenue, prompting them to plan for the entrapment.

“However, when the arrest was to be made, the suspect ran off towards a labyrinth of nearby passageways and disappeared,” Azurin said.

Recovered during the drug bust operation was one piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic cellophane placed inside a yellow carton case that contained 1,000 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of PHP6.8 million.

Violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 is being readied against the suspect who remains at large. (PNA)
