DUMAGUETE CITY – Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo has extended his condolences to the family of the late former President Benigno Aquino III who passed away on Thursday due to a lingering illness.

“I, together with my family, sincerely extend my deepest sympathy to the bereaved family of former President Benigno Simeon Cojuangco ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III for his untimely demise,” Degamo said in a media release Thursday evening.

Despite the “rising political tensions”, Degamo said Aquino’s “brand of public service to the nation was sincere and filled with hope that the next generation of Filipinos will experience a better quality of life,” he said.

Admitting that he and the late Philippine president had “different political persuasions”, the Negros Oriental governor said he shared Aquino’s dream “of a better future for every Filipino”.

“PNoy will be remembered,” he said of the country’s 15th president. (PNA)
