Over 17K recover from Covid-19 in Zambo Peninsula

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Region 9 or Zamboanga Peninsula has registered a 78.35-percent recovery rate from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as of June 26 based on the data released Tuesday by the Department of Health (DOH) regional office.

Dr. Jemuel Cristobal, DOH-9 medical officer, said Region 9 has registered a total of 17,761 recoveries out of the 22,667 confirmed cases as of June 26.

He also said there are 4,062 active cases and over 800 recorded deaths.

Cristobal said the Zamboanga City has the highest number of recoveries at 10,305 as well as the highest number of confirmed cases pegged at 11,401 compared to other areas in the region.

Following the city in terms of recoveries is the province of Zamboanga del Sur with 3,456. Zamboanga del Norte has 2,368; Zamboanga Sibugay, 964; and, Isabela City, 668.

In terms of the number of confirmed cases, Zamboanga del Sur follows the city with 4,739; Zamboanga del Norte, 4,079; Zamboanga Sibugay, 1,686; and, Isabela City, 762.

Cristobal said the province of Zamboanga del Norte has the highest number of active cases with 1,587 followed by Zamboanga del Sur, 1,152; Zamboanga Sibugay, 672; Zamboanga City, 576; and Isabela City, 75.

In terms of deaths, 518 are registered in the city followed by Zamboanga del Sur, 131; Zamboanga del Norte, 123; Zamboanga Sibugay, 48; and, Isabela City, 19.

Meanwhile, Cristobal said 163,751 individuals in the region have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and 56,311 have also received their second dose as of June 25. (PNA)
