BULUAN, Maguindanao – Police authorities have recaptured in a remote village here a fugitive who bolted the Maguindanao provincial jail in April this year.
Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, the director of Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-BARMM), identified the recaptured detainee as Dante Karatuan, 32, of Barangay Kayaga, Pandag town.
“He has a standing case for illegal possession of firearms and shabu drugs resulting in his detention at the provincial jail in P.C. Hill, Cotabato City,” Ugale said.
Karatuan managed to escape from his cell three months ago and returned to his hometown.
Ugale said police officers in Pandag and Buluan municipal police stations have received a tip about the presence of the suspect in Barangay Digal, Buluan, prompting them to launch a joint operation.
“He did not resist arrest,” Ugale said.
The suspect is now under the custody of Pandag municipal police station.
Ugale urged the public to cooperate with the police and to support the anti-criminality campaign by providing information and report any suspicious persons or activities in their areas. (PNA)
