BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Health in Caraga (DOH-13) said a total of 66,758 individuals in the area who belong to A1 (medical front-liners), A2 (senior citizens), and A3 (persons with comorbidities) priority groups have received their full vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
During the 6th full council meeting of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in Caraga on Wednesday, DOH-13 director Dr. Cesar Cassion said 171,463 persons in the same priority groups also received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
The meeting was presided by Cabinet Sec. Karlo Alexei Nograles, the designated Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security in Caraga.
“As of July 6, a total of 118,218 individuals in the region were inoculated with Sinovac vaccines for the first dose and 53,052 for the second dose,” Cassion said.
He added that 53,245 individuals also received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine and 13,706 got their second dose.
The DOH-13 has listed around 435,756 individuals under the A1, A2, and A3 priority groups on its master list for vaccination, the DOH-13 chief said.
With the numbers of vaccinated persons presented, Cassion said the region registered a 39.35 percent coverage rate for the first dose and 38.93 percent for the second dose.
The region, he added, has a total of 181,607 vaccines allocated as the first dose and 79,103 for the second dose.
The consumption rate in Caraga for the first dose is registered at 94.41 percent and the second dose at 84.39 percent.
The region, as of Wednesday, has registered a total number of 22,605 Covid-19 cases with 19,525 recoveries, 2,413 remaining active cases, and 667 recorded deaths.
More vaccines
During the meeting, Nograles also announced that an additional 16 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine are expected to arrive in the country this month.
Of the 16 million, around 7.5 million doses are Sinovac vaccine, he added.
Nograles also urged the local government units to come out with substitution lists for those who will fail to show up during their vaccination schedule.
He added that individuals to be prioritized in the substitution list are government employees who continue to extend their services amid the pandemic.
Substitution lists, Nograles pointed out, will ensure the consumption of allocated vaccines for those who are willing to be vaccinated. (PNA)
