MANILA – The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) continues with its complete rehabilitation of the rail service with fiber-reinforced foamed urethane (FFU) sleepers being installed in parts of its train depot.

In a Facebook post, the MRT-3 said the FFU sleepers will be used to replace wooden sleepers that have been worn through the years.

Ginagamit ang FFU sleepers na pangsuporta sa mga bahagi ng tracks na may kailangan nito, tulad ng switches, turnouts, at crossings (FFU sleepers are used to support the necessary parts of the tracks, such as switches, turnouts, and crossings),” the MRT-3 said.

It said a total of 581 pieces of FFU sleepers have been imported from Japan and will be installed at the train depot where MRT-3 trains are parked.

Earlier, the installation of new turnouts was completed at the MRT-3 depot on June 30.

The complete rehabilitation of the MRT-3’s mainline tracks has also been completed during its Holy Week maintenance shutdown, right after the installation of new turnouts.

Sa puspusang rehabilitasyon naman ng riles sa depot ngayon, magagarantiya ang tuloy-tuloy at swabeng operasyon ng mga tren, mula main line hanggang depot (With the accelerated rehabilitation of the tracks at the depot, uninterrupted and smooth train operations are guaranteed from the mainline to the depot),” the MRT-3 said.
