DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao – Alert police, backed by Barangay Police Action Team (BPAT), arrested two suspected contract killers several minutes after they tried to kill their target in Barangay Awang here Wednesday night.

In a report, Lt. Joseph Tamayo, municipal police deputy chief, said the incident occurred past 6 p.m. where the victim, identified as Roy Francisco, miraculously survived the gun attack.

“Francisco was taking his coffee break at a roadside café when two men, riding tandem on a motorbike, arrived and opened fire on him using .45 caliber pistols,” Tamayo said.

Francisco was unhurt and managed to run away as the gunmen sped off on their motorbike.

Responding police officers, however, gave chase and cornered the suspects in the interiors of the village.

The arrested suspects were identified as Junie Samson, 35, of Barangay Awang, and Jaypee Samson of Barangay Timanan, South Upi, Maguindanao.

Both are now detained at the Datu Odin Sinsuat police lock-up cell while charges for illegal possession of firearms and frustrated murder are being prepared against them.

Investigations are ongoing as to the motive and who hired the two. (PNA)
