MANILA – To help upskill the country's workers, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is partnering with more industries like the National Dairy Authority.
In a briefing on Wednesday, TESDA Deputy Director General Aniceto Bertiz III said the agency signed a memorandum of agreement with the NDA to train farmers on modern technology in dairy farming and agriculture.
"We are getting new technology, as well as (leverage) the training regulations and modules with our partners," Bertiz said in a statement.
TESDA recently collaborated with Nestlé Philippines to help coffee growers, with the multinational firm buying produce from different regions.
Bertiz noted that TESDA provides not only knowledge among enrollees, but also equips them with the necessary skills and helps them find jobs.
"It must be a holistic approach, from enrollment to employment. We are also partnering with different local government units (to provide them with the workers) they need in their areas," he said.
TESDA likewise forged deals with government units such as the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the Land Transportation Office to provide free driving skills programs.
Motor vehicle dealers Honda and Kawasaki, meanwhile, donated motorcycle units in TESDA training centers so students could practice repairing small engines using an actual unit.
TESDA has already finalized 22 of over 60 partnership talks under its enterprise-based training programs.
"These would provide opportunities to our countrymen, not only those who lost their jobs, but also for repatriates," he said. (PNA)
