2.8K more Covid-19 recoveries bring PH tally to 1.49M

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 2,854 new recoveries from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the country’s total to 1,491,182.

In its latest Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH said this translates to a 94.3 percent recovery rate out of a total 1,580,824 infections since the start of the pandemic last year.

The country also logged 8,562 new cases of Covid-19, with active cases now at 61,920 or 3.9 percent of all reported cases in the country.

Of these active cases, the majority at 94 percent have mild symptoms, followed by those with severe symptoms at 2.1 percent, those with moderate symptoms at 1.49 percent, while those asymptomatic and in critical condition at 1.2 percent each.

It reported 145 new deaths, with the number of total deaths caused by Covid-19 now at 27,722 or 1.75 percent of all infections.

Based on the latest data on Covid-19 testing, a total of 52,623 individuals were tested for the disease on Wednesday, with 14.9 percent returning positive.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), there are 1,100 beds at intensive care units (ICU) at 52 percent occupancy, 4,500 isolation beds at 44 percent occupancy, 3,500 ward beds at 41 percent occupancy, and 1,000 ventilators at 37 percent utilization.

For the whole country, there are 3,500 ICU beds at 59 percent occupancy, 19,400 isolation beds at 50 percent occupancy, 12,400 ward beds at 47 percent occupancy, and 2,800 ventilators at 38 percent occupancy. (PNA)
