KIDAPAWAN CITY – The family of a slain trader in Arakan, North Cotabato has offered a reward of PHP100,000 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons behind the crime.

Noime Galindo, the mother of trader Mark Anthony “MacMac” Galindo, said Tuesday the reward will hopefully speed up the identification and prosecution of the perpetrators and the brains behind his son’s murder.

Macmac, a copra (dried coconuts kernels) buy and sell businessman, was about to alight from his pickup vehicle on July 30 in front of his home in Barangay Poblacion, Arakan when two men, riding tandem on a motorbike, arrived and opened fire on him.

“Initially, he only sustained non-fatal injuries but the attackers broke the car’s windshield and fired more shots,” Noime said in an interview with reporters here.

The suspects sped off in an unknown direction as responding neighbors rushed the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Relatives said Macmac has no known enemies and was very friendly to everybody.

“Maybe envy pushed the attackers to kill him,” Noime said when asked as to what could have triggered the murder.

She claimed her son was a successful businessman.

The victim left behind his wife, two sons, and a daughter. (PNA)
