MANILA – A total of 200 drivers and mechanics have joined the ranks of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) after the formal graduation of Coast Guard Non-Officer’s Course Class 84 – 2020 “Tatak-Sandigan” on Thursday.

In a Facebook post on Friday, the PCG said Class 84 - 2020 was the first-ever class to be “organized and dedicated” for skilled drivers and mechanics.

“Out of 200 drivers, 20 of them have a strong background in welding, while 180 of them have specialized skills in repairing and maintaining automobiles,” the PCG said.

In his speech, Vice Admiral Leopoldo Laroya, PCG Deputy Commandant for Operations, congratulated the class for completing the seven-month training at the PCG Training Center in Taguig City.

“As the first class of specialized skilled drivers and mechanics, it is your job to make sure that all mobility assets of the PCG are at optimal and best working conditions,” Laroya said.

Currently, the PCG said the recent graduates are awaiting deployment to augment various PCG units across the country. (PNA)
