Bacolod anti-drug ops net 5 suspects, P1-M shabu

BACOLOD CITY – Five were arrested and an estimated PHP1.04-million worth of suspected shabu were confiscated in various buy-bust operations here over the weekend.

At about 12:55 a.m. Sunday, Tommy Flores, 27, was apprehended by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Western Visayas (PDEA-6) Special Enforcement in Barangay 8.

He yielded several sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 50 grams valued at PHP340,000.

About an hour later, members of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Police Station 2 arrested John Philip Suanico, 36, in a stakeout at the corner of Aguinaldo and 22nd Streets in Barangay 4.

A resident of Cityville Subdivision in Barangay Estefania, Suanico was caught with about 2 grams of the prohibited substance valued at PHP13,600 and improvised tooter with traces of shabu.

On Saturday night, Allan Sadia, 32, a resident of Barangay 29; and Johnny Gonzaga, 54, of Barangay 1, were arrested by joint police operatives in Barangay Banago at around 6:20 p.m. after they transacted with an undercover policeman for PHP12,000 worth of shabu.

Operatives confiscated from the two suspects shabu weighing about 100 grams with standard drug price of PHP680,000.

The operation was conducted by personnel of Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit-6, Regional Special Operations Group, and BCPO Police Station 2, where Sadia and Gonzaga are now detained.

In Barangay Tangub, the drug enforcement team of Police Station 8 caught suspect Enrique Fuentebaja, 35, after he sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP200 to a poseur-buyer at around 8 p.m. at Block 10, Lot 5, Gardenville Subdivision.

During the operation, the suspect also yielded 1 gram of the prohibited substance valued at PHP6,800.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, will be filed against the suspects. (PNA)
