BUTUAN CITY – A K9 narcotic detection dog led agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Caraga (PDEA-13) to the discovery and seizure of PHP680,000 worth of shabu in Barangay Imadejas here on Saturday.

Dindo Abellanosa of the PDEA-13 information office told the Philippine News Agency on Sunday that the agency’s K9 unit was inspecting a parcel supposedly containing computer accessories when the illegal drugs were detected.

“A PDEA-13 narcotic detection dog named Connan sat down in front of the package which indicated the presence of illegal drugs inside,” Abellanosa said.

Authorities seized about 100 grams of shabu from the package belonging to a certain Loida Verallo, who is said to be a government employee.

The suspect has been arrested and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (PNA)
