COTABATO CITY – Anti-narcotics agents arrested a high-value target (HVT) in Maguindanao and seized from him PHP340,00 worth of suspected shabu and a firearm, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) said Sunday.
PDEA-BARMM Director Gilbert Buenafe identified the suspect as Arsad Gunda Salik, 35, of Barangay Tulunan, Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Maguindanao.
“The buy-bust operation was carried out around 3 p.m. Saturday in Barangay Dalican, Datu Odin Sinsuat town,” Buenafe said in a statement.
He said PDEA agents, backed by soldiers from the Army’s 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion, seized some 50 grams of suspected shabu from the suspect, a .45 caliber pistol, and marked money during the operation.
“The suspect has long been included in our HVT list as a big-time supplier of prohibited drugs in Maguindanao and part of North Cotabato province,” Buenafe said.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms) have been filed against the suspect currently detained at the PDEA-BARMM headquarters here. (PNA)
