LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – This capital town’s peace and order council has approved a resolution expressing support to the sustainability of the ELCAC (Ending local communist armed conflict) to reinforce the implementation of the whole-of-nation approach embodied in Executive Order (EO) 70.

Vice Mayor Roderick Awingan, in an interview on Thursday, said the town supports the whole-of-nation approach towards peace and order which the national government is advocating thru ELCAC.

He said anything that is good for the people and has good intentions like the continued enjoyment of peace and order is supported by the municipality.

“We are for the whole-of-nation approach because it benefits our people,” he said. The Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) thru Administrative Order 51-2019 issued in November 2019 created the municipal Taskforce (MTF) ELCAC in support of President Rodrigo Duterte’s whole of nation approach.

Also approved was Resolution 1-2021 during the joint meeting of the MPOC, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force, and Municipal anti-drug abuse council (MADAC) on June 24.

According to the MPOC resolution, “noteworthy accomplishments are implemented by the MTF that contributes to the effective maintenance of peace and order in the locality which the government endeavor to continue to promote in all parts of the country."

Awingan said the capital town which is known as the country’s strawberry capital and the Rose Garden of the north, is a peaceful town without issues of insurgency but they are one with other areas of the country where there are peace and order problems.

With everyone working hand-in-hand towards a single goal of attaining peace, he said progress will not be a far reality.
