BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) 13 (Caraga) has convened its partners for the implementation of the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) project.

The SPLIT is a four-year project implemented by the DAR nationwide and funded by the World Bank.

“The project aims to improve land tenure security and strengthen the property rights of the agrarian reform beneficiaries or ARBs,” DAR-13 Director Leomides Villareal told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Friday.

He said representatives of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Register of Deeds, the Land Registration Authority, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, and the Land Bank of the Philippines joined the meeting here Thursday.

“Here in Caraga region, around 1,700 hectares of collective titles previously issued to our ARBs are target to be subdivided through the program this year,” Villareal said.

The SPLIT project, formally launched in the region in November last year, will have a total budget of PHP24.6 billion for its nationwide implementation, with PHP1.73 billion allocated for Caraga, he added.

“This gathering with our partner agencies is vital to the success of the implementation of the SPLIT project here in our region. The activity on Thursday was aimed to harmonize the different activities under the project involving our partner agencies,” Villareal said.

He added that the various guidelines set under the SPLIT Project were discussed during the meeting.

“We are also hoping for some levels of understanding among our partner agencies on these guidelines for the effective and smooth implementation of the SPLIT project here in Caraga region,” Villareal said. (PNA)
